Today is Thursday, November 16, 2023, Give to the Max Day.  We have changed our platform in an effort to save money and allow more funds to go directly to clients and families that need services.  We are accepting donations through Donorbox.  See QR code below.

Survivor Resources is a non-profit organization that provides immediate and long-term services to families who have experienced the loss of a loved one through homicide, suicide, accident, and overdose deaths.  Survivor Resources provides immediate services through referrals from the homicide unit, accident unit, chaplains, and officers acting as a liaison to assist families who are suffering traumatic grief, and many times need help to manage and understand the law enforcement response, courts, and financial assistance processes. Long-term support includes weekly support groups with trained facilitators, who have experienced loss themselves, free of charge thanks to private and in-kind donations, and state and federal grants.

To date this year, Survivor Resources has provided over 22,000 services to families in need.  We provide assistance in many forms, depending on what each family needs.  In addition to these individual services, since the start of the pandemic we have been offering 10 weekly support groups virtually.  Since 2022, as we move toward more in-person support groups again, we have 13 support groups and have found a need to continue with virtual groups for those who are not in driving distance to a group.  Although it is very beneficial for group members to meet face to face, this virtual platform has allowed clients out of the metro area and out state to connect with others that truly understand them and what they are trying to process.

While expanding our services virtually makes sense, doing both in-person and virtual groups comes with additional costs.  To maintain client contacts and provide the best, most consistent services possible, a client database is critical.  Cost of such a database and maintenance of it is over $10,000 a year.

Costs continue to increase in all services we provide.  Phone, computers, networks, databases, newspapers, interpreters, insurance, virtual platforms, are just some of the on-going costs.  Grant funding has been stagnated for several years even though costs continue to rise.  We realize everyone is tightening their belts.  Please consider a donation, no matter the amount.  Every dollar helps to provide services for these ever-increasing needs.  It takes a village, and we need our village to help us continue to help others.  Every dollar helps!

The need for our services continues to be at an all-time high.  Please consider donating, allowing us to continue offering our services free of cost to those that have lost a loved one to homicide, suicide, accident, or overdose.

We are not using the Give to the Max site this year and have made giving quick and easy.

  • $30 will provide one way of transportation for a client wanting to attend but has no way to get there.  Typical Uber charges range from $18-35 per ride
  • $50 will provide materials including grief books to clients at vital times throughout their grief path or one month of Zoom to provide virtual support groups for those that need it
  • $100 will provide interpretation for one support group.  It allows clients from different backgrounds and languages to participate in support groups virtually or in-person
  • $200 will provide assistance with our grief events, where clients can honor their loved ones (Walk-a-thon and Memorial)
  • $500 will provide technology support for our client database, internet, and communications to and from clients to be able to fully access and use services both virtually and in-person
  • $1,000 provides one month of technology support for all systems

Scan the QR code and get directly to our donor site.  If you can not scan the code, you can mail us a check or cash.  If you would like to pay with a credit card, please call the office and we are happy to help.
